The Chao Samartin Hillfort Museum offers visitors a journey through the history of one of the most important hillforts of the Northwest Iberian Peninsula, from the latter stages of the Bronze Age VIII-VI century BC until the tenth century, and in the Middle Ages.
Its permanent exhibition displays more than 350 original objects, and that are a source of information of the first order to know since there lived the inhabitants of the former Ocela.
The exhibition is designed to take a tour of the most significant moments of the hillfort, while curiosity and the need to find out more from the visitor arises. Thus visitors can walk the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman times and the Middle Ages.
The Hillfort Museum's mission is to guard the Chao Samartín, conserve, teach, exhibit, disseminate and investigate mainly the heritage of its archaeological site. And all this, aimed at a large and diverse audience that want to actively participate in the conservation of the Archaeological and Cultural Heritage, with the purpose of enriching its present knowing the past.
